There's an ancient proverb that says "If a son does not know what killed his father, the same thing that killed the father will also kill the son."

In Genesis 3, Satan beguiled Adam and Eve to disobey God and sin against their creator. But Satan was not created an Evil being; He was once a powerful Angel of light. The bible describes him as an Angel who covers and he lived in Eden. He wasn't just passing by when he met with Eve, he was Adam and Eve's "roommate" in the Garden of Eden so to speak. Ezekiel 28:13-14 referring to Satan says "You were in Eden, the Garden of God...You were the anointed Cherub who covers, and I PLACED YOU THERE..." (NASB). TEV bible version puts it this way "...You LIVED in Eden, the garden of God and wore germs of every kind..." According to these verses, God placed Satan, formerly known as Lucifer in the Garden to live with Adam and Eve but why would God do that? Recall that Satan was not yet evil when God placed him in Eden. Hebrews 1 says all Angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. So, Satan was in Eden as a powerful Angel of light sent to serve Adam and Even. He didn't take it too kindly that God would send him to serve mere men so he was lifted with pride and decided to go rogue. However, the revelation of who Satan really was and how he turned from good to evil was uncommon knowledge to the children of Israel. They didn't really know who Satan was and they commonly referred to him as the Angel of the Lord who brings death and destruction. They saw him as a minister of God. They didn't realize Satan was no longer a minister of God. For example in 2 Samuel 24:1, the writer says "The Lord was angry at Israel AGAIN, and he made David think it would be a good idea to count the people of Israel and Judah" - CEV. Now, this scripture clearly says the "Lord" caused David to sin by conducting a census. The Hebrew word for "Lord" used here is "Yĕhovah" or "Jehovah." So, this insinuates that this was the doing of Almighty God. If God had commanded David to conduct a census then later became furious against David for obeying, it would contradict His word because the bible says God does not tempt anyone nor can He be tempted by Evil (James 1:13). It couldn't have been God almighty. Now this exact same incidence is recounted by another

author in 1 Chronicles 21. It says "Now Satan stood up against Israel and moved David to number Israel..." The word "Satan" is used here instead of "Lord". Satan tempted David but Samuel said it was the Lord. Indeed Satan was lord of this world but he was not God Almighty. Since the people of Israel didn't really know who their adversary, Satan was they were held under bondage, torment and hardness of heart through sin. Satan could easily harden their hearts and hold them captive through iniquity because he was now the god of this world. Since Israel didn't know who their adversary was, they were following the destructive path of Adam and Eve.

Lesson/ Point in Case

Romans 6:16 says you are slaves to the one you obey, whether slaves to sin leading to death or to obedience leading to righteousness. God never gave Satan "god" status on earth yet Apostle Paul says Satan is god of this earth ( 2 Cor 4:4). God had given authority over this earth to Adam so how did Satan get that god-status? - He stole it from Adam and Eve when they obeyed him through sinning. They became slaves to sin and Satan became their master. The servant became the master. They unknowingly passed their authority over the earth to Satan. Ignorance is never an excuse so don't be ignorant of the schemes of the devil. One scheme the devil is using against a lot of Christians is a tight schedule. The devil is making a lot of Christians too busy for God. Year in, year out, they are working, and going to school and taking a long deserved vacation and doing Church activities that are non edifying, etc. Some of the things the devil keeps us preoccupied with are by themselves important and necessary, but the devil overloads us with this things and makes us loose our priority. When we aren't focused on God like we should, we loose our power and become easy prey for the devil.

Matt 6 says "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you" It says goes on to say "for the pagans strive after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them." God is well aware that you need all the things that keep you preoccupied and too busy to spend quality time with God like you would a loving father or spouse. Pagans are busy by the same things you are but God says seek Him first. The devil likes busy Christians because they won't have time to arm themselves against his devices. Busy Christians are easy prey. Satan can feed on their authority any day, any time he wants that's why he'll strive to keep you too busy for God. Make time for God and patiently fellowship with Him and see if He will not bombard you with His blessings like He's promised.

Don't blame God for the evil in your life when Satan is the culprit. God cared for humanity so much that he made Lucifer, a might Angel to serve Adam, a mere mortal. No wonder king David asks through the Spirit in Psalm 8 "What is man that you are mindful of him... For You have made him a little lower than Angels." Throughout creation, God has consistently given His best to humanity. During creation, he merely spoke and things came to be but when it came to creating Adam and Eve, God didn't speak, He worked; He formed Adam then He used a rib from Adam to form Eve. God could have spoken Adam to existence but He wanted to give His best attention and skills in making Adam. When time came for Salvation, God sent is only well loved Son, Jesus. He couldn't spoken salvation into existence without lifting a finger. But no, when humanity was on the line, He always, always, gave His best and He still gives us His best today but we are too busy to let God work His best in us. When things go south, Satan tells us to blame God and like Adam, we blindly obey him without even realizing it. God wants to give you His very best but our adversary the devil is out to steal, kill and destroy. We now know who "killed" our father Adam, let's not be ignorant but let's take our authority in Christ and be assured that our heavenly Father cares for us.
